Where it all started
When COVID hit, I was put under consultation, and that moment of uncertainty became a turning point. We’d already been fostering dogs, and it became clear it was time to stop doing what we were told we should do, and start building something that actually made a difference.
Golden Paws Essex was our way of turning love into livelihood and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made.
More than just care
Not just a number or a booking, but part of the Golden Paws family. Somewhere they could rely on, check in with, and know their pet was genuinely cared for.

Why we’re different
We’re a home-based, licensed and insured service where:

Supporting new dogs
Helping a nervous, reactive, or first-time dog settle in is something we take very seriously.
We carry out a one-to-one assessment to understand your dog’s personality, triggers, likes, and dislikes. From there, we create a tailored introduction plan which might include:
- A short visit
- A half-day stay
- Or a gradual build-up to longer stays
There’s never any pressure. We always work at your dog’s pace, alongside you, to find the best fit.

We don’t just love dogs, we understand them.
If there’s ever a gap in our knowledge, we go and fill it. Every decision is based on kindness, safety, and the long-term wellbeing of the animals in our care.
