One of my dogs was very scared of other dogs, but they worked so hard with him and now he is great with all dogs even when we are out with him. It was so nice to be away and have peace of mind that the dogs were being well looked after and having lots of fun. The little videos we received whilst away were so lovely. Sarah's flexibility and "no ask is too much" disposition has given me back my freedom after getting a lockdown pup! The above words don’t go any way to describe the quality “bespoke” care our lively Goldendoodle received when he spent a couple of days and nights with Sarah and Frank - “GoldenPaws”. They are amazing. And Hobbs clearly had a fabulous time - demonstrated by the pictures and videos we received and his demeanour both there and when we collected him. I can’t recommend them enough. Just wish I’d found them when I first needed to to board him for a day or so. And once again to add their clear love and understanding of dogs and their different ways. Hobbs now older and a little wiser and the happiest boy in their care. Thank you.

Golden Paws Essex was born in 2020 out of a love for dogs and a desire to offer something more personal than kennels or big commercial day cares.

We’re a small, home-based service where every pet is known by name, numbers are kept low on purpose, and there’s always someone with them.

From nervous rescues to bouncy puppies, we take the time to get to know each dog, creating a calm, familiar environment where they can truly settle and thrive.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Springfield, Chelmsford, and support families across Chelmsford, Springfield, Great Baddow, Chelmer Village, Writtle, Galleywood, Broomfield The Avenues, Moulsham in Essex.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we are fully insured and hold a 5⭐ license from the local authority.

How many dogs do you care for at once?

We keep our numbers low on purpose. This means every dog is known, cared for, and part of a calm, familiar group.

Do you accept un-neutered dogs?

We have a policy and I can send that over or save it to Google Drive as we do but there are strict protocols as you can well imagine.

What's the joining process?

We carry out a one-to-one assessment to get to know your dog’s personality, likes, dislikes, and needs. From there, we create a tailored introduction plan to help them settle in at their own pace.

Do you look after cats as well?

Yes! We offer gentle cat pop-in visits, including feeding, litter changes, company, and welfare checks, so your cat stays happy at home.

What types of dogs do you care for?

We welcome puppies, rescues, golden oldies, and everything in between. We’re experienced in supporting nervous and reactive dogs, too.

What vaccinations do dogs need for daycare/boarding?

We accept titre testing, plus kennel cough.
